Well in all fairness I have nothing official but the news of this pack has been so leaky it’s beyond a joke. Then the whole lack of clue thread for this month only adds to the suspicion that tomorrow’s pack is the Porsche pack. Plus if there is one thing I will give Turn 10 it’s their scheduling and DLC usually happens on the first Tuesday of the month. Tomorrow or later today for me should be interesting.

(oh wait, it’s been two minutes since I checked the Forza news page, the Xbox DLC page, the Turn10 twitter feed, and the Amazon Porsche Expansion link.....)

Ok, I’ve been out of the Forza loop for a while. The last Forza I played was 4, which didn’t initially have Porsche either. At the time they claimed there was some exclusivity issue with NFS, licensing issues, etc.. Finally the expansion pack was released, and it was supposed to be “ Yea, we finally worked this out!” But all Forza games ever since have shipped without Porsches, which came out later as expensive expansion packs. Is this pretty much the business model for those guys now? That’s some major bull.

Let me fill in some holes for you.
EA control the Porsche licence in gaming not Porsche and more often than not they’ve been a dick with it. Porsches were originally supposed to be in 4 from the start but at the last minute EA vetoed their inclusion and they were pulled out. Eventually Turn 10 managed to agree a sublicencing deal with EA but at a huge cost which left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth hence their omission in 5.
Now things get murky. There was a lot of discussion that EA’s deal with Porsche would expire in 2016 and Porsche would be free to licence their cars out to anyone. This turned out to be bollocks annoyingly. However due to various behind the scenes politics, Microsoft and EA are now on better terms and the issue of Porsche has been brought back to the forefront.
However rather than agreeing a deal for each game like they did in the last, this time Turn 10 agreed a deal over a period of time or number of games, we aren’t sure which yet but the gist of it is that Porsches will be back in Forza for a bit.

Now here is the real story; microsoft and ea (I will not capitalize their names) are typical American corporations that have nothing more than an overbearing lust for money. ea gives Porsche to Turn 10 in exchange for a piece of the profits. Turn 10 is forced by Microsoft to continue to release Porsche as a separate expansion to take in more money from their consumers. Their exclusion from Forza 5 is simple: the game was incomplete, then rushed to an ailing console, missing a huge amount of content that was sold back to its loyal fan base for extra profit. How anyone continues to support this franchise is beyond my comprehension. I have too much respect and common sense to let a company rip me off so blatantly.
